Currently Non-Collectable

Currently Non-Collectable status is for taxpayers that are unable to pay back taxes.  The IRS back taxes will not go away.  You will still owe the taxes.  However, due to your financial condition, the IRS will not try to collect the back taxes.

5 Things to Know About Currently Non-Collectable Status

  1. You can stay in Currently Non-Collectable status for up to 10 years
  2. You still will owe back taxes but you are unable to pay
  3. Penalties and interest continue to accrue
  4. You do not need all tax returns filed to request Currently Non-Collectable status
  5. The IRS will review your account once every two years
